The pipes of the proximity organ – also affectionately known as the ‘magic organ’ – are fitted with theremin electronics and function both as sound generators and proximity sensors. Within a radius of about half a metre, they are surrounded by an electromagnetic field, allowing them to be played without physical contact.

Ruprechtskirche is unheated; very warm clothing is recommended.

Kuratiert von Gobi Drab und Klaus Haidl

Die Näherungsorgel (Proximity Organ) kombiniert Pfeifenorgel und Theremin. Sie wurde entwickelt und gebaut mit freundlicher Unterstützung von Stadt Linz, Stadt Wien Kultur, BMKÖS, Otto Mauer Fonds und SKE der Austro Mechana.
