ensemble N, founded in Vienna in 2018, and the Icarus Ensemble (also known as Icarus vs Muzak), founded in Reggio Emilia in 1994, will be joining forces for this evening’s performance. The programme features three hits by Schönberg, Fausto Romitelli and Mirela Ivičević, combined with world premieres by Vienna-based composers Davide Spina and Daniel Serrano. Spina, who was awarded First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Ferruccio Busoni International Composition Competition in Tuscany, explores the fractures and disruptions between human experience on the one hand, and digital technology and artificial intelligence on the other. Serrano, winner of the International Nikolaus Fheodoroff Composition Prize by the State of Carinthia, transposes three sculptures by the US-American sculptor Isamu Noguchi into a musical context.
