In the – complicated – search for music between the genres, Studio Dan has really found something. The two commissioned composers are basically prototypes for a generation of music makers who are able to survey, penetrate and connect the rich heritage of the "avant-gardes of all genres". But they both also appear as virtuoso interpreters alongside the ensemble. Ingrid Laubrock blurs the boundaries between advanced, sound-based, non-idiomatic improvisation and precise, highly condensed composition. Lukas König is known for his work between highly rhythmically complex band projects, noise-based sound art and collaborations with contemporary music ensembles as well as celebrated pop bands. A sequel of sorts to the New York Times award-winning program Breaking News. (Studio Dan)
