Klangforum Wien: Erwartung

Program

Cast

On the evening before the opening concert, Klangforum Wien plays a prelude for Wien Modern: In accordance with the festival theme ‘Stimmung’, the ensemble uses its subscription cycle to examine the aura – and fittingly, the first concert is moved from the Mozart-Saal to St Stephen’s Cathedral. Sylvain Cambreling has his hands full with Messiaen’s enormous World War Requiem and its orchestral sound masses,

Iveta Apkalna has an equally impressive volume of sounds at her disposal with the new giant organ. This prelude is meant not just for the festival as a whole, but also for a total of seven projects that involve organs and / or churches this year. The next festival date in St Stephen’s Cathedral: the custom-made soundscape by Klaus Lang and the Wiener Symphoniker that will fill the gothic church hall and its recently finished giant organ on the 19th November 2020
