OLGA NEUWIRTH / ELFRIEDE JELINEK
Ghosts & Vampires

Program

• Olga Neuwirth: Ghosts & Vampires. Multimedia-Installation mit Texten von Olga Neuwirth, Elfriede Jelinek und Herman Melville (2026)
• Vernissage

As Vampi and Bampi, Olga Neuwirth and Elfriede Jelinek battle against man-made apocalypse in their opera Monster’s Paradise. At Wien Modern, the two vampires will now make their Musikverein premiere in the interactive sound installation Ghosts & Vampires. Drifting across the icy sea on a raft, they are accompanied by Schubert, the forces of nature and a computer-controlled grand piano programmed with earthquake data. The multimedia installation combines orchestral recordings from the opera’s finale with the voices of their characters, spoken for the first time by Neuwirth and Jelinek themselves. The audience can interact and join them on the raft.
