One of the special premieres of the Wien Modern 2025 festival is the first performance in Austria by the Korean ensemble WhatWhy Art. WhatWhy Art is an ensemble for contemporary music on traditional Korean instruments. The members are trained in the Korean traditional music Gugak and are outstanding soloists on their respective instruments. They move freely between traditional and contemporary music. In carefully developed projects, the ensemble uses the collaboration between Korean and non-Korean artists of different genres to create new artistic energies and to open up new spaces within Korean contemporary art.

To sound in the two performances of the production Gagokbounce: One by One by Sebastian Claren and Hyunju Oh at Reaktor (21.11. 20:00), the ensemble's musicians will present Korean instruments, playing and singing techniques at the Korea Kulturzentrum on Kärntner Straße (limited seating capacity).
