The 36th Erste Bank Composition Prize is awarded to the Pisa-born composer Pierluigi Billone, now Viennese by choice, in recognition of his highly original work and his unmistakable compositional style. He describes the piece ME. Study for Ensemble as a movement between silence, chaotic masses of sound and ever-returning emptiness.
