Cast

Ensemble Kontrapunkte contributes to the Musikverein's portrait of Chaya Czernowin her two oldest works. These leave no doubt about the composer's haptic approach, rich in images and associations: Afatsim, named after the Hebrew word for galls, as caused by gall wasps on leaves, examines disfigurations of time. The septet Sheva, Hebrew for the number seven, written during Czernowin's years as a professor at the mdw in Vienna, interrupts fragile lines with massive "clumps of sound".
