Different Lines is a project by Paweł Romańczuk / Małe Instrumenty addressed to blind, deaf and hard-of-hearing people that invites them to become an active part of it. Scores on which participants draw graphic line structures will be created in a participatory workshop. These scores are interpreted musically by improvising workshop participants. Blind people can use the sense of touch to recognise and use different sorts and shapes, sighted people use shapes and colors. Both ways lead to their own ideas of sound, which shape the development of the music in terms of time, pitch, dynamics and compositional scenarios. Organising the creative process in such a way enables the active participation of people who are often excluded from artistic fields. Thus, Different Lines combines an urgent social task with a unique musical creation. The workshop is primarily aimed at people who are not professionally engaged in music. The instruments are chosen in such a way that even people without any knowledge or practice of instruments can take part in making music together.
