    Auftrag Wien Modern

Cast

A love for the utopian, the visionary and the impossible has, over the course of the festival’s history, offered quite a number of extraordinary musical moments to the Wien Modern audience. A few of these took place in the Great Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus, which is only rearranged for special occasions. There are exactly 11 x 88 reasons that the Hall, which still hasn’t seen everything, will be freed of its stalls once again: For decades, the astonishing Swiss composer Edu Haubensak has been developing a unique tuning for each of his new piano pieces. Thus emerge finely detailed, iridescent sound miracles with titles as poetic as Campi Colorati or Veränderte Luft (changed air). Wien Modern presents the premiere of the complete version of this impressive collection of solo works for a total of eleven differently tuned grand pianos, with a newly commissioned tutti as the finale.
