The Tanzquartier Wien is Austria’s premier meeting place for contemporary dance and performance. In the near 10 years since it was set up, it has become one of the foremost institutions in Europe for the advancement and development of these two art forms, as well as a leading centre for theoretical discourse. In line with the trans-disciplinary understanding of art – which is reflected in the location of the Tanzquartier within Vienna’s Museum Quarter – the focus is a hands-on experiencing of current developments and trends in dance in combination with a close dialogue with the artists.
