MUSIKVEREIN VIENNA

The Musikverein Vienna is one of the world's most famous classical concert venues. Alongside the Konzerthaus and the State Opera it contributes to Vienna's fame as a city of music. One of the society's first statutes was to «present the existing classical works». But the Musikverein has also been a forum for contemporary music, with premieres of works by Arnold Schönberg and Anton Webern.

Since 1988, Musikverein and Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft have co-operated and jointly organised Wien Modern, as part of their commitment to contemporary music. The Main Concert Hall, the Großer Musikvereinsaal, showcases major orchestra projects and the Brahms Hall features Wien Modern's chamber and ensemble concerts.
